A sad sad day for equality

Sorry but I couldn't hold my tongue any longer.

I'm tired of living in a world where people believe that just because they believe something is wrong then people should be condemned for it.

This is two thousand and fricking thirteen, why can't I live in a world where I'm free to love whomever I want.

The news I heard today had me feeling ashamed of my own heritage. Yes I said it, today I felt ashamed to be Nigerian. I don't care who knows it!

What kind of backward nonsense bafoonerish am I hearing that those found to be gay will be sentenced up to 10 years in prison.

*falls to the ground*

Today, on 30th May 2013, a bill was passed in Nigeria's House of Representatives; that banned gay marriage and outlawed anyone from supporting gay rights, those found guilty could face up to 14 years in prison.

This is the kind of nonsense, no nosense is not even a hard enough word I can use because it doesn't even justify how ludicrous that law is.

People have been fighting and fighting hard, to make gay rights legal global, and then Nigeria goes and passes a dumb ass law like that. I'm sorry to say, but this is one of the reasons why Nigeria is a backwards country and if it doesn't fix up it will never fluctuate to the potential that is should have.

Things like this just make me angry. Though I'm not gay myself. I am a full supporter of gay rights and equality. I believe that everyone has the right to love whoever they want  (except paedophiles that is sick and no one try use that as a justification to the argument against gay rights because you are dumb!)

I hate people that use that old age argument "It's wrong, man and man should not lay with each other, it's not right". I'm sorry but who made you the chief owner of the moral compass, sit down!

Until you can come up to me, stand on a box and say that your life is perfect, that your living your life in such an amazing flawless way, that your life should be the mirror that the rest of the world should reflect; then fall back!

I just do not understand this world, there are people killing themselves everyday all across the world because they think that they are living their life wrong, ashamed to be who they are. Yet people still quote there gospels of 'but it's wrong though'.

I'm not even  gonna get into religion, because that's another argument in itself, but to quote a line from Macklemore's Same Love,
"If you preach hate at the service those words aren't anointed
That holy water that you soak in has been poisoned"

I could go on all day about this, but I'm just gonna end with one thing.

People in this world need EDUCATION and EDUCATING.

That is all.

New Video: Jennifer Lopez - Live It Up Feat. Pitbull

I love the yellow lips and nails combo, I wish I could pull that off but I know it would just look weird.

Solange X Complex

I've always been a huge Solange fan. Sol-Angel and The Hadley St. Dreams was the soundtrack to my dissertation.

Check out her cover for the Complex Magazines June/July issue.

Check out the rest of the pics.

Kelly Rowland - Dirty Laundry

Kudos to Kelly for going deep and being so open and literally airing her dirty laundry. The fact that she sings about being in Beyonce's shadow and surviving an abusive relationship, makes me... I dunno respect her just that little bit more.

I really liked it, it's really different and very out of the norm for her; here's hoping the rest of the album follows suit.

I'm your dreamgirl

Everyone that knows me knows that I am ob-sessed with Dreamgirls (the soundtrack that is). There is many a time when I will just bust out my One Night Only's, Stepping To The Bad Sides and I Am Changing's.

My ultimate dream is to star in a West end version  *pauses to daydream*.

So imagine my excitement when I stumbled over this lil gem.

I love finding celebrity auditions/screen tests, it just makes them that little bit more normal. And also as an aspiring actress myself, it's refreshing to see them have to go through the same things I do when I audition.

Diddy on Downton?

Diddy stars in this Funny or Die sketch where he proclaims his love for Downton Abbey and declares that he was in fact the first black character on the show; going by the name of Lord Wolcott.

Peep the clip below.

I'm not gonna lie this did actually make me smile.

Coffee Mondays

As I'm gonna be a 9-5er again (well 9-6), this means that me and mornings are going to be friends again.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! Say it isn't soooooooooooooooooo!

Phew! Got that out of my system. Now where was I, ah yes. Even though I like to think of myself as a morning person, I have this unhealthy habit of not being able to fall asleep before 1am. Try as I may, I just never seem to be able to drift off
. I turn off the TV, flip the laptop lid, turn off the lights, but still my mind wonders.

So if I will only have about, lets say 5 hours of sleep; I know I'm definitely gonna need a lil help in the getting me up at 6 in the morn department.

Cue an energy stimulant.

Energy drinks are out, because those things slaughter me, I'm not even going to tell you what those things do to me, but insomnia is a major factor. Tea is out because I haven't had a cup in over 15 years and so is coffee because I don't like the taste. Eww I'm so not really a coffee person. So what's a girl to do?

Hmm I do like a good Mocha, only problem is I don't have a coffee maker and last time I attempted to make a homemade one it tasted disgusting.

What to do what to do.

Hey what's this?

So you're saying that all you need to do is add hot water to a powdered chocolate, add a shot of coffee and add hot milk. Wowaweewah! I think I've found my new morning stimulant (get your minds out of the gutter).

Pretty Lippy

Paul & Joe make some of the prettiest lipsticks and lipstick cases I have ever seen (other than Mac that is).

TFail

I found this rant I wrote sometime last year and it makes me laugh because we now have a 'circled' Overground and my life would have been so much easier if that had been the case when I wrote this:

Nails on the blackboard

The Caviar manicure is like so last season.

Introducing the new Chalkboard Manicure from none other than Ciaté.

MSN Hands On with Nokia Lumia 520

I was all on board until dude said there was no flash! All the other things I could live without; but not my flash. Flash on my phone is essential, how else will I be able to find the endless amounts of items that seem to take up residence behind my bed.

But considering the price of £99 on pay as you go, it's pretty decent.

Hmm imma think on this one.

There is only so long one can cope typing without the fully functioning use of a spacebar.

Met Ball 2013 Nails

So a couple of days have passed since the 'must be seen at' event that is the Met Ball.

You know, the event of the season that has the creme de la creme of stars/head honchos scrambling to get invites.

So anyway's, this year's theme was Punk and the stars went ham. I loved loved loved Madonna's look, taking it back to her heyday, you know girl was in her element right there.

As usual most of the buzz is around who attended and what they wore; but I was more intrigued by what the ladies were rocking on their hands, and I don't mean clutches. I'm talking nails daaahling nails.

Let's take a look at my top 3 faves.

Come fly with me

I really want a Lulu Guinness suitcase.

Lulu Guinness
£245

I saw it a few weeks back in a luggage store in Stratford Westfield and fell in love with it.

It totally flew out of my mind but then I saw it again a coupla days ago, after the Beyonce concert (which I did not go to boohoo). I spied this girl getting on the bus with it and the way I side eyed her something fiercely with my newly green eyes.

I'm sorry but how cute is this? This is definitely high up on my wish list right now.

Cuff Me

I've always wanted to get my tragus pierced, but the fear of the hole never closing up if I ever decided to take it out, has always stopped me.

So imagine my glee when I saw these babies.

Beyoncé H&M Advert

Yup it's that time again. Time for another Beyoncé post.

I actually prefer her with her hair dark. Hmmm maybe if she got rid of them blonde locks, I might actually start to like her a little bit more.
