They're Back!!!

Last night surprised tears rolled down my cheeks, as I was reunited with some old friends.

As a nostalgic kinda girl, I got overly excited when I saw that the Tetley Tea Folk were back on my screen and yes I admit I cried; I wanted to jump in the TV with them, hug them and scream where have you been and why'd you leave for so long.

As a young one I was upset when I learnt that they had disappeared; but though gone they were never forgotten.

So I say welcome back Tetley Tea Folk, and I hope you remain for years to come...

In Tech News...

Oooh this got me excited when I heard about it. Sony Bravia TV's will now have BBC iPlayer, how cool is that.

Today it was announced that Sony's Bravia Internet Video platform will include BBC iPlayer. This will enable Bravia TV's, Blu-ray players and Home Cinema Systems, access to the service.

Leave The Rooneys Alone

Argh why I am turning my TV on to see that the show 'This Morning' is dedicated to speculation about the future of the Rooneys marriage.

It's so infuriating to keep hearing about this. It's not a story, it's someone's personal life, and before people start saying once you become a celeb your laying your life out there for us and we have the right to know about their 24/7 lives and yahdiayah blahdiblah. But we all know that Coleen is the must humblest WAG and likes to keep her personal life personal, and doesn't splash it all over the front of the glossy magazines and newspapers.

So just leave them alone and let them work on whatever alone without all of this speculation. Jeez.

John Woodward To Stand Down

We all know my feelings about the Gov and the axe of the UK Film Council, so I was surprised to learn that John Woodward was to stand down as the Chief Executive of the UK Film Council. He will step down in November 2010.

On his decision, he said:

"For the next few weeks the UK Film Council is in a dialogue with the Government about the future support structures for UK film. By choosing to make my position clear now, I can be objective and unconflicted throughout that process. It should then, rightly, be for others to take the new system forward and write the next chapter for UK film.
"I can't adequately say what a privilege it has been to serve the British film industry since 2000 – and I enjoyed every minute of it up until 5.35pm on 24 July this year. I am proud of what the UK Film Council and its staff have delivered over the past decade. But now is the time to focus only on the future and ensure that whatever takes the place of the UK Film Council builds on its considerable achievements and retains the professionalism and expertise that the industry has said that it wants."

Arrrrrrghhhhhh!!! Frustration!!! This whole UK Film Council situation gets me so angry!!!

The Biggest Insult To Our Troops

I awoke this morn to learn that this 'coalition' government has decided to 'secretly' sack soldiers as they fight on the front-line. They are planning to axe some soldiers whilst they are out fighting in Afghanistan (a pointless war if I must point out), and they will only be told when they return home.

Though I am not a war supporter, I support those that protect this country, and to hear the bull that the gov plans to do is just sickening. These brave people give their lives to protect our country, and to hear the utter betrayal that is going to happen angers me. Whilst there are fund-raising events such as last nights Heroes Concert, that pay homage to those that give their lives to keep our country 'free'; the gov claim that they are doing this to cut costs, but its obvious that there are not enough funds in defence.

There is already not enough support given to soldiers after they return from war, so this is the biggest insult to them.

The whole situation just angers and sickens me. First the UK Film Council, now the Soldiers, what next are they planning on axing the NHS???

The Secret Girlfriend Review

The Secret Girlfriend (Fiver Thursdays 10:30 pm)

So I’ve watched about two episodes of this show now, and let me tell you I am not impressed; whilst watching the second episode I found myself so bored that eventually I left the room to go and make myself a cup of tea and I don’t even drink tea, so that is obviously saying something.

I started watching this because I liked the concept. I liked the fact that the viewer was included into this plot, and became the main character. It has that role-playing element to it, which was doing so well in the gaming industry. So I had high hopes, hopes that were squashed, as soon as the show came to life on my screen.

Though initially a good idea; the show overall lacks plot substance and characterisation. It seems to mirror films such as the American Pie sequels, where the only theme is sex and having the female cast expose as much flesh as possible.

All I can say is that I'm not surprised it wasn't picked up for a second season.

New Song Alert: Willow Smith - Whip My Hair

Hmmm... I don't know about this one, its cute and catchy but hmmm.... I dunno

This Is England '86 - Episode One (My Mini Verdict)

Loved it!!! This is the type of UK Drama that gets me watching (hear that channel commissioners), seriously I didn't want the episode to end. If you haven't watched it, why haven't you watched it, seriously you have to watch it! This show has a mix of comedy, 80s nostalgia and gritty drama.

I'm so sad that it is only a four part drama, when it comes to an end I tell ya I will be craving more!!!

This Is England '86 On Tonight

I am actually really excited at the prospect of watching tonight's instalment of This Is England '86. After scaring myself into thinking that I wouldn't be able to watch it cos I haven't watched the film (yeah I'm a weirdo like that, I have to watch things in chronological order or I feel like I've missed something). So I was relieved that 'This Is England' came on last night and all I can say is that this is a film that you have to watch.

One word 'AMAZING', it was so gripping. I love watching gritty British films, I think they are our best export.

Thomas Turgoose's performance as Shaun was flippin' mind blowing. He really had me 'convinced' and when an actor has me 'convinced', it makes the whole viewing experience that much better. I am excited to see him in tonight's show, (he's all grown up); I hope that he continues to 'blow my mind'.
I'm also excited to see how the story continues, not to ruin anyone's viewing pleasure of the actual film, but I will say there were some cliff-hanging elements and certain characters that I would  like to learn some more about, so hopefully this four part series will highlight these.

On an end point I would like to say, that films like this make me so angry that the UK Film council has been axed. How will we continue to make great films like this I cry. HOOOOOOOOWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
