Poem Of The Day

This never ceases to make me smile:

"Why Did You Make Me Black Lord ....

Lord .... Why did you make me black?
Why did you make someone
the world would hold back?

Black is the color of dirty clothes,
of grimy hands and feet...
Black is the color of darkness,
of tired beaten streets...

Why did you give me thick lips,

a broad nose and kinky hair?

Why did you create someone
who receives the hated stare?

Black is the color of the bruised eye
when someone gets hurt...

Black is the color of darkness,
black is the color of dirt.

Why is my bone structure so thick,
my hips and cheeks so high?
Why are my eyes
brown,
and not the color of the sky?

Why do people think I'm useless?
How come I feel so used?
Why do people see my skin
and think I should be abused?

Lord, I just don't
understand...
What is it about my skin?
Why is it some people want to hate me
and not know the person within?

Black is what people are "Labeled"
when others want to keep them away...
Black is
the color of shadows cast...
Black is the end of the day.

Lord you know my own people mistreat me,
and you know this just ain't right...
They don't like my hair, they d on't like my
skin, as they say I'm too dark or too light!

Lord, don't you think
it's time to make a change?
Why don't you redo creation
and make everyone the same?

GOD's Reply:

Why did I make you black?

Why did I make you black?

I made you in the color of coal
from which beautiful diamonds are formed...
I made you in the color of oil,
the black gold which keeps people warm.

Your color is the same as the rich dark soil
that grows the food you need...
Your color is the same as the black stallion and
panther, Oh what majestic creatures indeed!

All colors of the heavenly rainbow
can be found throughout every nation...
When all these colors are blended,
you become my greatest creation!

Your hair is the texture of lamb's wool,
such a beautiful creature is he...
I am the shepherd who watches them,
I will ALWAYS watch over thee!

You are the color of the midnight sky,
I put star glitter in your eyes...
There's a beautiful smile hidden behind
your pain...
That's why your cheeks are so high!

You are the color of dark clouds
from the hurricanes I create in September...
I made your lips so full and thick,
so when you kiss...they will remember!

Your stature is strong,
your bone structure thick to withstand the
burden of time...
The reflection you see in the mirror,
that image that looks back,..that is MINE!

So get off your knees,
look in the mirror and tell me what you see?
I didn't make you in the image of darkness...
I made you in the image of ME"

Bye Bye India (from Hollyoaks)

I have often slated Hollyoaks for their outlandish storylines, but they have definitely come up trumps with their latest one, it has a real shock factor.

The online safety storyline has definitely made me more aware of my online presence.

I myself had previously signed myself up for a dating website, just to see what all the fuss was about. Since watching the episode, where we see character India’s meeting with cyber date ‘Cameron’ end in tragedy; I have since removed myself from the site.

I have also changed the privacy settings on my Facebook profile and have removed any ‘friends’ who I don’t actually know.

I know websites where you get to meet a whole new bunch of people is the new way of socialising, but you have to be safe and smart.

It may be fun and games, but you don’t know what the person on the other side of the computer screen is like unless you know them personally. This is not me saying that you should meet them; it’s me saying that you need to wise up before you exchange anything with someone you don’t know.

MATT WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!!!!

At this moment in time I am absolutely... extremely... words cannot express how much... HAPPY!!!

MATT WON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Woop Woop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now I can finally breathe, cos I've been holding my breathe since the moment his name was called for the final two.

Well done Matt! I knew you could do it! I supported you from the start! I've always been Team Matt!!

As soon as I heard 'The First Time' I knew that he would be the winner (or at least make it to the final).

So again, well done Matt, I hope you go far!  I mean this sincerely because this is the first year that I have actually ever cared what happens to the winner after they won. I hope and pray that Matt will have an illustrious career and that he goes on to have many success.

Dream Big

Dream Big by Jazmine Sullivan is officially my anthem, especially when I’m feeling down or have the leather crocodile blues. I can relate to the song because I am a big dreamer. I know if I change my attitude to certain things then I know that I can get to the place that I want to be in my life and achieve the things I want.

In the past I’ve had that passive attitude where if I have certain barriers  or things aren’t going the way that I want I get frustrated sometimes even giving up.

I look at certain idols of mine and I think to myself, if they gave up like I do then they wouldn’t be where they are now. I know I need to give up my self defeatist attitude and if things are blocking me, find a way around them and never give up; because if at first you don’t succeed try, try, try again.

I know that at this moment in my life I have reached a certain standstill. But I will overcome and I will get to where I want to be.

So every time I hear ‘Dream Big’ by Jazmine Sullivan, I get a boost to move closer and closer to my dream.

Team Janine

These are words I that I never thought that I would ever say, but I actually feel sorry for Janine.

What Stacey and Ryan are doing to her is pure evil. Okay so I know everyone hates her and in her stint in the show she has done some really evil and messed up things, but what she is going through must be really hard and I can only emphasise with her. She has to stand back and watch whilst the man she loves plays happy families with someone else and that must be the hardest thing she has ever had to do.

Ryan is going about this whole situation in the wrong way. From his standpoint he can’t understand why Janine can’t be content with him getting to know his daughter. But what he doesn’t understand is that he is freezing her out and in turn isolating her out of their relationship. Instead of sitting her down and having a heart to heart he just dishes it out and expects her to just sit there, take it and act like nothing has changed.

Obviously a baby is supposed to be the most important person in a parent’s life, but only a few weeks ago he didn’t even want to know her and now out of the blue he changes his mind. Janine is supposed to be living in the honeymoon period with Ryan giving her, his undivided attention, but now she has to share this time with a baby plus her mother, which for anyone can be hard. What Ryan needs to understand is that Janine should be equally important to him because she is his wife.

This is why I don’t think I could get with a man who already has a kid, because when I’m in a relationship, I want to feel like I’m the most important person and having to share that that importance with another person especially a child, I don’t think I could do, not just because of the child but because I now that the mother will always be there and I don’t think I could handle it.

Okay so Ryan wants to get to know his daughter, but he also needs to realise that he has got a wife and he needs to keep her happy too. All this sexual tension that’s going on with him and Stacey is so annoying. Just sleep together already and divorce Janine if you want to be with Stacey, don’t mess her around because we all know she will get her revenge and it won’t be pretty.

I used to really like Stacey and even felt sorry for her when Archie raped her and Bradley died. But now she has really grinded my gears and I can’t stand her. I just don’t understand why she has to keep being a bitch. What was the point of even telling Ryan that he was the father if she doesn’t want him involved, she’s just playing stupid games which will end badly and I can’t wait!

Team Janine All The Way!!

Lucas The Traitor

Oh my frickin' days! I cannot believe it! Lucas North is a traitor and a cold blooded killer! What a twist!

I only started watching Spooks last season, but I always thought that Lucas was a good guy, and I felt sorry him after he spent all them years getting tortured; he definitely was my favourite character. But from the scenes that I saw of him tonight and from next weeks preview, has made me realise that people are not always what they seem to be.

I feel so robbed of my emotions for him. I can't believe that when Vaughn was blackmailing him, I actually felt for him and wanted him to get away with stealing the Albany file. Now that I know he's not the good guy, it's all changed and now I know that he will never be Lucas North again and everything will not go back to normal. I am actually seriously affected and I feel a little bit sad. The Lucas Saga is now over and Spooks will never be the  same (for me).

I applaud the writers of Spooks, you never know what you're going to get when you watch this show and tonight's episode emphasises this.

*Clap Clap*

This is truly great British Drama in Play.

A Quick Moan

I'm so sorry to burden you guys with this, but I can't help it if I don't let this out I'm gonna scream and I don't need people thinking I'm crazy.

So where am I? I am in the waiting room at the doctors... so now you know why I am going crazy. For me has to be one of the most infuriating places to be in.

You rush to leave your house thinking that you will be late for your appointment and may possibly miss it. Only to get there and find out that in fact you will not be making your 4:30 appointment. Not because you were late but because at 4:45 the person who was scheduled in at 4:15 has just gone in. So you sit in that torture room clock watching and praying that the next name called is yours.
Every sound within that dungeon of torture is amplified, every sniff, cough and  sigh makes you want to suture off your own head or at least burst your own ear drums.
Sniff sniff sniff sniff sniff sniff... get a frickin tissue and blow your
damn nose!!!

Girl Groups + X Factor = ???

It seems that within the telly talent show we know as X Factor, there is no hope for girl groups.

As soon as I saw that Katie and Belle Amie were in the bottom two this week, even though I crossed my fingers and scrunched my face up so tight that I could have burst a blood vessel, hoping that the fame craver uniquely nicknamed 'The Weasel' would be leaving; I knew deep down that it was Belle Amie's time to take the walk of shame back home.

Looking back now, I don't even know why I even gave this thought the time of day because you and me both know that there is no future for girl groups on the X Factor. Let's take a look back into the history of Girl Bands:

  • Series 2 saw Addictiv Ladies booted out in week one.
  • In Series 4, Hope surprisingly made it to week seven, however they were in the bottom two, in week three and five.
  • Bad Lashes and Girlband from Series 5 left in week one and week two.
  • Series 6 hopefuls, Kandy Rain and Miss Frank were eliminated in week one and week three.

Girl groups who want to go on X Factor my advice to you... DON'T BOTHER!!!

Support The Cause...

I saw this on Russell Howard's Good News, and I was deeply affected. The message in this short film is so powerful.

The treatment that Aids victims recieve can help change someone's life dramatically. If we do all we can to help we can save many many lives.

New Video Alert: Katy Perry - Firework

When I first heard the song I fell in love. Now I've seen the video I've fallen deeper in love.

The concept is so powerful, the theme of empowerment radiates all throughout the video.

I salute Katy for dedicating the video to 'It Gets Better' a project dedicated to helping the young Gay community against bullying. Support the cause here.

I ♥ Wagner !!!

I love Wagner. He is too much! I don’t even care if the man can sing or not. He is pure entertainment for me. As soon as I flip over from Strictly to X-Factor, my first thought is “I wonder what Wagner is singing tonight?”

At first I wasn’t too keen on him, I was like how can they put through someone who isn’t a strong singer, but I converted to Team Wagner as soon as I heard his performance in the first week, ‘Love Shack La La Love Shack’ will forever be indented into my head.

I love the fact that no one can pronounce his name (especially Louis). Even after he tells the judges countless amounts of times that its pronounced Wagner with a ‘V’.

If he goes this week, all I can say is that he will always be an X Factor 2010 highlight for me, and it will be a sore loss for entertainment on a Saturday Night.

I Want Matt To Win!!!

I am a massive Matt Cardle Fan.

This is the first time I have ever followed X Factor from beginning to present and I have totally fallen in love with him (no not romantically I am in love with his music, I think he is an amazing performer).

He has got such a smooth and beautiful voice. He truly is talented. I actually really, really want him to win. I love the fact that he can sing any song, even a woman’s song and turn it into his own. His interpretation of Britney Spears’ Hit Me Baby, had me blown away.

I can’t wait to hear him sing his own songs after the show is through, because I know they will be amazing.

Matt to Win!!!

My Experience Of Life After Graduation So Far...

Sorry it's a long one:

As a graduate who worked hard and I say HARD in capitals because trust me my 3 years in university was an emotional rollercoaster, but that’s another story. As someone who worked ‘damn’ (and yes I will curse as I believe that I have the right to) you can understand how I felt when I was forced to claim benefits. Yup I said it the dreaded word ‘Benefits’, it’s not only bums and scroungers that claim you know, some of us hard workers go through a time period where we need some assistance, and due to the fact that we are all entitled to a lil help when times get hard I don’t think there should be anyone out there judging me.

Let me tell you a little bit about my background. I’m the typical stereotype. I am from a single-parent working class family (clichĆ© I know). I am the first person in my immediate family that went to university; an accomplishment I know and I like to pat myself on the back every time I remember this. My mum works in the local supermarket so our family isn’t exactly making top figures in the money department, if you get what I mean. Basically let’s just say Lil Zee isn’t exactly experiencing the finer things in life.

When I was younger I never understood the extent to which I was in financial strain. I guess when your young your blind to everything. But as soon as I hit the soil of ‘higher education’ it hit me with such a force, I didn’t know how to handle myself. I learnt that life itself was very expensive. You to have to pay bills, rent and buy food, and don’t get me started on personal upkeep.

All I’m saying is that Student Loans and Maintenance Loans are the devil; they disguise themselves as your saviour, they are the key to your university education and hide behind the lies that they are there to help you and as soon as you graduate they come back to bite you in the bum when you least expect it. They write letters to you like bailiffs telling you that you owe them money and when you see the interest it’s enough to send you scuttling into a hole.

Students don’t be fooled when you open up your bank statements and see that large sums of money have been deposited into your account and think ‘yay I can go off on that holiday now’ or ‘new wardrobe shopping spree here I come’. My advice to you is to be sensible and to put some of that money into a savings account, because if you are part of the unlucky majority that come out of university to unemployment as soon as you step out of the safe bubble of student discounts and grants, the real world will hit you like a ton of bricks and you will not know what hit you. Take it from someone who knows, especially if you are someone like me who is a person of ‘ahum’ acute poverty. I found this new source of income a little lifesaver, which I never thought would end, but yup 3 years later it did and I ended up in a situation that many who attend university never think they will end up in… unemployment.

Once the money dried up I found that the life I had become accustomed to I could not uphold. Gone were the luxuries; the new technology, clothes, contact lenses, frequent trips to the hair salon and branded food; even the driving lessons that I craved so much.

A friend advised me that there was a scheme called Job Seekers Allowance (JSA); this would help me find a job and support me with £50 a week whilst searching. £50 a week may sound like a little to many, but it’s better than £0 so I did it thinking I’d only be on it for a few weeks and then I’d be in my job… hmm I thought WRONG!!!

Job Seekers Allowance is another devil disguised as a helping hand. As a person that has no other means coming, you become so dependent on it that you actually become a prostitute for the money; no I don’t mean you start giving sexual favours in return for money, but you start doing anything that they throw at you just so you can keep getting your £50. Seriously I found myself doing crazy things like going on courses that I was forced to attend, because if I failed to go then they would revoke my money.

Okay your probably thinking, why is this fresh out of Uni graduate, attending courses when she has a qualification that should open more doors than a course about getting back into work. You tell me, because I had no idea why I did this. These courses were like concentration camps where they held the unemployed and kept us trapped at computers and newspapers spending pointless hours scouring for jobs. And oh no you had to apply for every job; there was no being picky on these courses. It felt like a prison/school, there were so many rules, you couldn’t talk, you couldn’t eat, you couldn’t do anything. I remember once I got reprimanded for wearing the hood of my jacket up, when I was having a bad hair day.

This institution was filled to the brim with all types, and they did not care about you, to them you were just a number. I got talking to this man who had been a successful businessman; he had done business with princes and had flown on first class whenever he travelled. The only reason he was there was because he had suffered during the recession, ask me what type of jobs they were forcing this poor man who probably was the most qualified person in the room to apply for, retail jobs. I felt like crying for him; we bonded because we knew that this stupid course was so unnecessary for us and that we could do better.

I finally decided that I would stop claiming after this course forced me to apply for, go to an interview and accept a job offer from a job that I didn’t even want. I became so confused and delirious that my friends intervened and snapped me out of my JSA coma; they could see that I had reached an all time low of depression and I was not my normal self anymore, all I could see was gloom and I felt like my life was going nowhere. I felt so trapped in this JSA nonsense that I had started telling myself that I had to do what they told me or I would be penalised.

Now that I’m free, I feel more positive, though the money is not flowing in like I would like it to be, I feel free to do more. At the moment I am discovering myself as a person and in terms of jobs, I am working on a freelance basis so it’s on my terms and not the Jobcentre’s dictation.

They're Back!!!

Last night surprised tears rolled down my cheeks, as I was reunited with some old friends.

As a nostalgic kinda girl, I got overly excited when I saw that the Tetley Tea Folk were back on my screen and yes I admit I cried; I wanted to jump in the TV with them, hug them and scream where have you been and why'd you leave for so long.

As a young one I was upset when I learnt that they had disappeared; but though gone they were never forgotten.

So I say welcome back Tetley Tea Folk, and I hope you remain for years to come...

In Tech News...

Oooh this got me excited when I heard about it. Sony Bravia TV's will now have BBC iPlayer, how cool is that.

Today it was announced that Sony's Bravia Internet Video platform will include BBC iPlayer. This will enable Bravia TV's, Blu-ray players and Home Cinema Systems, access to the service.

Leave The Rooneys Alone

Argh why I am turning my TV on to see that the show 'This Morning' is dedicated to speculation about the future of the Rooneys marriage.

It's so infuriating to keep hearing about this. It's not a story, it's someone's personal life, and before people start saying once you become a celeb your laying your life out there for us and we have the right to know about their 24/7 lives and yahdiayah blahdiblah. But we all know that Coleen is the must humblest WAG and likes to keep her personal life personal, and doesn't splash it all over the front of the glossy magazines and newspapers.

So just leave them alone and let them work on whatever alone without all of this speculation. Jeez.

John Woodward To Stand Down

We all know my feelings about the Gov and the axe of the UK Film Council, so I was surprised to learn that John Woodward was to stand down as the Chief Executive of the UK Film Council. He will step down in November 2010.

On his decision, he said:

"For the next few weeks the UK Film Council is in a dialogue with the Government about the future support structures for UK film. By choosing to make my position clear now, I can be objective and unconflicted throughout that process. It should then, rightly, be for others to take the new system forward and write the next chapter for UK film.
"I can't adequately say what a privilege it has been to serve the British film industry since 2000 – and I enjoyed every minute of it up until 5.35pm on 24 July this year. I am proud of what the UK Film Council and its staff have delivered over the past decade. But now is the time to focus only on the future and ensure that whatever takes the place of the UK Film Council builds on its considerable achievements and retains the professionalism and expertise that the industry has said that it wants."

Arrrrrrghhhhhh!!! Frustration!!! This whole UK Film Council situation gets me so angry!!!

The Biggest Insult To Our Troops

I awoke this morn to learn that this 'coalition' government has decided to 'secretly' sack soldiers as they fight on the front-line. They are planning to axe some soldiers whilst they are out fighting in Afghanistan (a pointless war if I must point out), and they will only be told when they return home.

Though I am not a war supporter, I support those that protect this country, and to hear the bull that the gov plans to do is just sickening. These brave people give their lives to protect our country, and to hear the utter betrayal that is going to happen angers me. Whilst there are fund-raising events such as last nights Heroes Concert, that pay homage to those that give their lives to keep our country 'free'; the gov claim that they are doing this to cut costs, but its obvious that there are not enough funds in defence.

There is already not enough support given to soldiers after they return from war, so this is the biggest insult to them.

The whole situation just angers and sickens me. First the UK Film Council, now the Soldiers, what next are they planning on axing the NHS???

The Secret Girlfriend Review

The Secret Girlfriend (Fiver Thursdays 10:30 pm)

So I’ve watched about two episodes of this show now, and let me tell you I am not impressed; whilst watching the second episode I found myself so bored that eventually I left the room to go and make myself a cup of tea and I don’t even drink tea, so that is obviously saying something.

I started watching this because I liked the concept. I liked the fact that the viewer was included into this plot, and became the main character. It has that role-playing element to it, which was doing so well in the gaming industry. So I had high hopes, hopes that were squashed, as soon as the show came to life on my screen.

Though initially a good idea; the show overall lacks plot substance and characterisation. It seems to mirror films such as the American Pie sequels, where the only theme is sex and having the female cast expose as much flesh as possible.

All I can say is that I'm not surprised it wasn't picked up for a second season.

New Song Alert: Willow Smith - Whip My Hair

Hmmm... I don't know about this one, its cute and catchy but hmmm.... I dunno

This Is England '86 - Episode One (My Mini Verdict)

Loved it!!! This is the type of UK Drama that gets me watching (hear that channel commissioners), seriously I didn't want the episode to end. If you haven't watched it, why haven't you watched it, seriously you have to watch it! This show has a mix of comedy, 80s nostalgia and gritty drama.

I'm so sad that it is only a four part drama, when it comes to an end I tell ya I will be craving more!!!

This Is England '86 On Tonight

I am actually really excited at the prospect of watching tonight's instalment of This Is England '86. After scaring myself into thinking that I wouldn't be able to watch it cos I haven't watched the film (yeah I'm a weirdo like that, I have to watch things in chronological order or I feel like I've missed something). So I was relieved that 'This Is England' came on last night and all I can say is that this is a film that you have to watch.

One word 'AMAZING', it was so gripping. I love watching gritty British films, I think they are our best export.

Thomas Turgoose's performance as Shaun was flippin' mind blowing. He really had me 'convinced' and when an actor has me 'convinced', it makes the whole viewing experience that much better. I am excited to see him in tonight's show, (he's all grown up); I hope that he continues to 'blow my mind'.
I'm also excited to see how the story continues, not to ruin anyone's viewing pleasure of the actual film, but I will say there were some cliff-hanging elements and certain characters that I would  like to learn some more about, so hopefully this four part series will highlight these.

On an end point I would like to say, that films like this make me so angry that the UK Film council has been axed. How will we continue to make great films like this I cry. HOOOOOOOOWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BB News

Just heard that the Big Brother Live Eviction on Friday has been cancelled; due to Caoimhe walking and Keeley's bad leg.

Instead Davina will now interview Caoimhe. Which would have happened anyway cos we all know that Caoimhe would have gone on Friday.

I say Caoimhe what was the bloody point of walking??? You were gonna go anyway, way to waste everyone's time!

News Just In...

There may still be hope for Flashforward!!!

According to DigitalSpy US Network Starz is reportedly in talks to *fingers crossed behind my back that this is true* 'revive' Flashforward.

I really hope this is true and not just hear-say, because we fans have worked so hard to get this show back on our screens. Flashforward was a great show and it didn't deserve to get axed, worse of shows survive for like 4 seasons and more and this show with an 'obvious' big following gets axed after just one season... sorry something ain't right there...

With all the fan protests, petitions, letters to Networks, Producers, etc... It just goes to show that Flashforward meant something to a lot of people, I mean it was voted the 'most missed' show in a recent poll.

I believe that Networks need to start listening to the fans and stop cancelling shows just because they don't meet certain ratings... they have to realise if your going to put a big budget show on at the same time as another big show, there are going to be conflicts.

Just Saw This...

And I had to laugh.

Wow Diddy, what were you thinking? This man never ceases to amaze me.

This pic was taken from a shoot for GQ Magazine August 2010 issue.

Attention All Gleeks...

Ever dreamed of singing with the New Directions...well here is your chance. No I'm not talking about starring in the show itself, so you can jump down from the ceiling.

Komani are releasing the new game Karaoke Revolution Glee on the Wii later this year; so you can get that chance (well kind of).

News Just In...

Caoimhe has walked out of the Big Brother house. What a muppet, like you couldn't wait the 3 days til Friday. We all know the only reason why she walked is cos she couldn't handle the boos she would get on Friday.

I saw this on Digital Spy and I couldn't help cracking up. Mohammed George (if you don't know who that is it's the guy who played Gus the street sweeper on Eastenders), just won libel damages over a tabloid report, that he was removed from the shows 25th Anniversary party.

So what has Gus been in since his stint in Eastenders??? I had a lil looky poo on IMDB and came up with zilch. I guess that's what happens when you slag off a BBC show. I'm just saying...

Beavis and Butthead are coming back... I repeat Beavis and Butt-Head are coming back.

Sources at MTV have confirmed that the 90's duo will return to our screens.

Though the new series will meet Beavis and Butt-Head for the first time in 13 years, they will still be in high-school, but it will be updated for the 21st century.

Sucker Punch

Sucker Punch by Roy Williams - at the Royal Court Theatre

Starring:
Daniel Kaluuya as Leon
Gary Beadle as Ray
Jason Maza as Tommy
Sarah Ridgeway as Becky
Trevor Laird as Squid
Nigel Lindsey as Charlie
Anthony Welsh as Troy

If there is one play you watch at the theatre this month, this is the play you need to watch. One word...Amazing. Kudos to Miriam Buether the designer, because the stage was amazing; I actually felt as if I was attending a real boxing match.

Set in the 1980's, Sucker Punch explores the lives of main character Leon and his best mate Troy. It follows them from school yard friends to opposing boxers. The play not only explores boxing and friendship, but issues with race surface. Such as the racist comments from Charlie and Tommy, the interracial relationship between Leon and Becky, and the belief that Leon has sold out and in turn has become an Uncle Tom.

The blend of high action music and lighting affect had both mine and I'm certain the rest of the audiences hearts beating along with the drama that was unfolding before us. I was totally encapsulated.

The choreography was superb, especially in the final fight scene.

I liked that Kaluuya narrated the boxing matches;  allowing us to envision them for ourselves.

My overall verdict:

4 Stars baby
